Case study no. 3: Automotive
Initial situation
A corrosion test chamber from the automotive industry must be air-conditioned. The air temperatures are between -15°C and +60°C and must be regulated in a short time. The corrosion test chamber lies in a salty mist.
Stainless steel air exchangers cannot be used because the customer wants to minimize the risk of rust particles in the air.
Task
A solution for air conditioning the room must be found in collaboration with the system manufacturer. The exchanger is located in the inflow duct to ensure rapid regulation of the system. One hundred percent corrosion resistance must be guaranteed. The temperatures of the heating and cooling medium (automotive) are between -30°C and +80°C.
Solution
Our Calorplast gas water heat exchanger made of high-quality PE-RT plastic can be used at low temperatures of -30°C as well as at 80°C. At the same time, it is made of solid plastic and is therefore 100% corrosion-resistant to the salty air. The design and installation is worked out in cooperation with the customer and calculated, designed and manufactured according to customer requirements.
Result
The corrosion test chamber can be built without materials that are susceptible to corrosion and can be operated trouble-free. Temperature control in the chamber is also guaranteed.
